Lonely World

Posted by Felicite Piper on January 20, 2013 at 6:05 PM Comments comments (0)

Darkness seeps in through the cracks as the world settles down

the memories and questions once suppressed by daylight now surround

positivity diminishes as solitary confinement becomes your fate

anger and pain consume you and thrust you into a broken state

you fall to your knees and try to pray away the hate

beg for forgiveness before it's too late

count your blessings as you begin to weep

anxiously await the time for your mind to give in to sleep

put a stop to flashbacks, refrain from pressing rewind

drift into the safety of a dream as you leave the lonely world behind

Excess Baggage

Peel back the cover

Time to get rid of the things that make it hard to love her

Expose the unnecessary

Separate what holds you back

No longer will you identify with the things you think you lack

Take out what weighs you down

While investigating the root of your fear

Throw out what keeps you from moving forward

Dispose of the negative things you hear

Replenish with faith, love, and hope

To create God's perfect package

Make room inside to cope

When you release the excess baggage

Self Destruct

Time is ticking

Down a path

No plan in place

You do the math

Placed in harm's way

Out of desperation

Nothing good to say

Unaware of the ramifications

My own worst enemy

Beat everyone to the punch

Radiate with insecurity

Confidence, not so much

Dark clouds begin looming

The good in me it will abduct

As I begin counting the seconds

Until I self destruct

Introvert, Poetry in Motion series

Keep it bottled up, tight

Sharing causes chaos, so keep it light

Avert your eyes; keep your head down low

Prepare a non-descript expression, so they'll never know

Nod through the conversation or stare into space

Hide the anger in your eyes; plaster a fake smile on your face

Become a chameleon, as you fade into the background

Keep your thoughts to yourself and don't utter a sound

Go along to get along, be agreeable, compromise

Keep your feelings under wraps; never let them get a rise

Out of you comes nothing but calm, stay cool and collected

Never crack under pressure, even when rejected

Appear unscathed as they attack your character

Take the rage that builds and place it on the alter

Lock it away, swallow the key

Bury it deep inside of me

For no one to see

Project the picture of serenity

If they only knew, it's the God in me

Controlling what they see

Underestimate my capability

Label me weak

When in reality I'm stronger than you'll ever be

Who will inherit, the meek

Bite my tongue until it bleeds

Pray away the hate

Love is what this needs

So open the flood gates

Go ahead; believe the text and where it leads

A carefully calculated response tightly woven, but between the lines is where it breathes

Where it grows, a life you'll never know

As increasingly you build a case for yourself, with a verdict that reads neither friend nor foe

Deep breaths in and out, steady my pace

Swallow all emotions, leaving not even a taste

Disguise the pain, cover the hurt

Build a castle of protection around you and pretend to be an introvert.

Poetry in Motion Series Introduction

Posted by Felicite Piper on July 9, 2011 at 7:39 PM Comments comments (0)

While walking today I started thinking of some great lines for a poem.  Well since I am walking to reach a weight loss goal, I didn't want to stop just to write a poem. So, I decided to write while I walked. And so began my new poetry series entitled, "Poetry in Motion." Stay tuned for more coming soon!

1 Hastily packing up everything I think I'll need to survive

Leaving behind what's most important,

What's kept me alive

2 Make a break for it

When I think no one is looking,

When nobody's around

Hoping not to be followed,

But praying to be found

3 Seeking shelter deep in places

Where I won't be recognized

Avoiding phone calls and eye contact

Contemplating cutting all ties

4 Build up the lies

I've told myself

There's no turning back

You'll only be remembered for what you lack

5 Suppress the need to come back home

Afraid to deal with harsh realities

Escape responsibilities

And the image I'm not qualified for

Faced with the decision of running further

Or walking through the door

6 Into the arms of the only one that can save me from myself

Deliver me from my fear

Strip me of my insecurities

Understand every tear

7 Steering clear

Of what's in front of me

And what could be my fate

Waiting for the need to runaway to dissipate

Waves of loves destruction wash over me

Displacing hope and progress,

taking life to places I thought it'd never be

The buildup of stress caused slippage along the fault,

too much for it to take

gaping holes form within,

causing solid ground to break

wounds left wide open

unrecognizable damage found in its wake

disoriented and overwhelmed

struggling to see through the rain

heavy winds dislodge what was once grounded

exposing the pain

only remnants of happiness remain

must rebuild, sift through the wreckage

create a new path

confront the devastation

and endure the aftermath.

1_Take me or leave me

Hate me or need me

See right through me

or blindly overlook me

2_All or nothing

Damaged or easily broken

Submissive or outspoken

Weak or fully potent

3_Sinner or saint

What I am or what I ain't

What I can or what I can't

A life you can cleanse

Or a life you can taint

4_Here and now or yet to come

Losing battle or victory won

Sensitive or completely numb

Bear it all or bear none

Choose to stay or choose to run

Continue to fight

Or admit……..I'm done.

Buried deep in confusion

I digress

Covered thick with disillusion

I oppress

The urge to be an optimist

As I sink

Submerged in the abyss, bottomless

On the brink

Surrender to life's failures

Control of my world

In a Perfect World

in a perfect world

we would have made it through

overcame life's distractions

experienced love in a rose colored hue

what a view

no regrets, no mistakes to undo

just me and you

in a perfect world

as is, I would have been enough for you

I would have been happy giving up my world for you

But who knew

What the transformation would force me to do

in a perfect world

time would be our friend

with no hearts to mend

no questions

no doubts to defend

no fight to win

in a perfect world

our dreams would come true

and I could love you with all of me

and you could love me with all of you

Lost and sometimes not trying to be found

Afraid to look around

Feet firmly placed on sinking ground

Just a shell

A deep well

Of regret and pain

Awaiting the reign

That will carry me to safety

Replacing the uncertainty and shame

With a new name

Internalize when you realize

Only pain lies on the outside

this roller coaster ride

of relentless emotional turmoil as you struggle to find

to connect

to what lies beyond the veil

the art of losing and accept this titanic fail

disengage from the world

Separate, release the latch

Part ways with all emotion

As to survive is to detach.

regret ensues.

Cause of the damage

too distorted to view.

Scattered pieces

reflect the inner workings of the mind.

Slowly gather what's salvageable

and prepare to realign…

Jagged Edges

desperate to fill the cracks

searching for a substance that avoids the facts

that lacks

the ability to create a pessimist

a cynic in the midst

of the destruction that lies in chaos

with help that's ill equipped.

The task ahead screams consumption

of depleted energy

threatening to take hold

of a misguided and undefined reality.

Attempt to conquer the fear of an unstable result

engulf doubt in flames

and relinquish all fault.

Burrow deep into the art of Recreating

Smear the crevices with words of wisdom

that hold as they were meant.

Magnified to panoramic

bittersweet becomes the view

as you gaze on the mosaic

that is now the new you.

The water rushes over me and shapes me as it sees fit

No discretion as to what is washed away, taking whatever it can get

Pieces of me lost as I am hit by the debris found in the water

Changing me little by little and at times unrecognizable, so why bother?

Resist the irresistible and get lost in the process

Is this cruelty or just a test?

Nothing more, nothing less

Pushed aside and redirected

Unreasonable to believe that you're not affected

What's left of you then is weak and brittle

Sensitive to the touch

To others the change may seem little

Not much

And such

Is the story of the rock and the erosion riddle.

Slowly opening her eyes

She begins to realize

Something has gone horribly wrong

Signals go off in her head

As her mind is lead

to believe

I am somewhere I don’t belong

“How did I end up here,” She cries

As she tries to vocalize

The confusion rising inside

This must be a dream

A nightmare it would seem

If only she could interpret what it means

Waking up not an option

Book of Sense out of adoption

And not equipped to handle something like this

Digging deep into herself

She reaches to the sky for help

Wondering, “How did I fall into this abyss?”

Stepping back through the destruction

Not at all a reflection

Of where she thought she would be.

Glorious! Victorious! spiritless....

the unrisen phoenix.

must rise to the occasion,

out of the ashes,

still ashes remain on my wings...

as I attempt to transform

into a new being,

create a new beginning.

Tunnel vision,

Communication failure...

at what cost?

nuevo no, evolution low,

still haunted by who and what I was before.

I struggle to fly,

as time rushes by,

in the ashes I cry,

half dead, half alive.
